| Overview |

ORBID provides a cost-effective way to guarantee the authenticity and integrity of your products. ORBID is the leading provider of fingerprint or Unique Identity (UID) solutions that enable companies to securely authenticate individual items throughout the product life cycle -- from manufacturing, through distribution, and ultimately the end-user and disposal. ORBID’s secure authentication solution enables companies to protect their brand from all forms of counterfeiting, including fraud, theft, liability damages, diversion, substitution, tampering, overruns, replacement/repair fraud, and return fraud.
ORBID 2DMI (2 Dimensional Marker Identification) is a patented marker solution that secures, verifies and identifies products for markets that face counterfeit and product tracking problems. ORBID 2DMI has the appearance of pickup sticks being randomly thrown into a square. It is a software application which enables two-dimensional (encrypted) coding of products to provide a unique identification for both overt and covert purposes on any type of surface. |

| ORBID 2DMI Capabilities (Six S’s) |
|
Scalable: The ORBID 2DMI mark is incredibly scalable. Marks can be printed so small that they are undetectable to the human eye (10 microns). Alternatively, marks can be scaled as large as necessary to fulfill space restrictions on products and labels.
Surface: The mark can be applied to almost any type of surface (from pills to glass to semiconductor packaging within clean room environments, and more). It is damage resistant. Up to 80% of the mark can be destroyed, yet still be readable.
Secure: The algorithm used in each deployment is unique to each customer. This “closed system” approach provides a much more robust level of security than encryption alone. Plus, just the very nature of how these marks are created makes tampering with or replicating them nearly impossible.
Safe: The ORBID 2DMI mark can be applied with inert marking equipment, making it ideal for pharmaceutical use because the mark is safe for human consumption.
Standard: The 2DMI mark can be applied with in-place or off-the-shelf, low-cost infrastructure (labeling, laser etching, laser discoloration). And it can be read with everyday technology (basic barcode imagers, industrial line and field cameras, as well as common Web cameras or mobile phone cameras). ORBID’s solution is also compatible with all major enterprise database systems (Oracle, IBM, Microsoft, SAP).
Savings: ORBID’s low-cost deployment infrastructure and secure UID provide a cost-effective way to manage track-and-trace and ensure brand authentication. |

| ORBID Compared |
|
ORBID delivers a very cost-effective way to guarantee the authenticity and integrity of products. ORBID’s closed-system approach provides a robust level of security.
ORBID’s patented software-generated 2DMI mark can be applied and read with existing technology on any surface (rough, uneven, tiny). Plus, it can be sized and placed to be completely unobtrusive. ORBID’s UID solutions easily integrate with existing operational processes and back-end enterprise systems.

| ORBID 2DMI Advantage |
|
| Feature |
The ORBID 2DMI Advantage |
| High Data Content |
Store more data independent of mark size (scalability). |
| Closed System |
Your data is protected against hacking or theft. |
| Flexible Layout |
Customer specific size, color, contrast and data content conforms to branding requirements from high-end luxury goods to industrial containers. |
| Low contrast environments |
The code is readable on difficult services (stainless steel, silicon, graphite, etc.), and performs in difficult or low-lighting environments. |
| Flexible application methods |
Can be applied using a variety of methods including imprinting, specialized inkjet, labeling and laser scribing. |
| Flexible reading techniques |
Can be read using a variety of equipment ranging from high-speed, industrial imagers to Web cameras or mobile phone cameras. |
| High reading reliability |
Can be read on curved and rough surfaces. Supports omni-directional reading. Orientation is done in the decoding software mitigating potential reading problems. |
| Robust operating environments |
Vector-based decoding ensures codes can be read when dirty, defaced, or partially destroyed. |
| Scalable |
Can be sized from microscopic (10 microns) to several meters. |
| Integrates with other track- and-trace technologies |
Integrates well into layered solutions tying direct item marking to packaging to case and pallet logistics solutions such as RFID. |
